My Life Unfolding

Being in a transition has me constantly reflecting on who I am and what I'm about. From the time I was young I always had big dreams. When I stumbled upon Tony Robbins in 2009 I was immediately inspired and knew that I wanted to do a variation of what he was doing. This is when I started to take my dreams to a bigger state - into visualization. At the time I was working for a company and lived in a state that was the wrong culture fit. I found myself acting out against my values in a rebellious way which was my soul screaming, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!!" I put on some Tony Robbins tapes, did some work and decided to move back to where I was living before to hit reset.

Hitting Reset
I had moved without a job and used visualization to really "see" what my next role would be. I had some criteria and next thing you know I have 2 offers which paid more and had more responsibility. About 18 months in I knew that my career path in accounting wasn't feeding my soul and it would soon be time to transition. I had no idea what I wanted to do but knew aspects. Having had success with visualization, I was determined to take it to the next level and discovered vision boards. I made 2 boards, 1 for travel and 1 for career, and placed them where I could see daily.

However I wouldn't see any movement for 6 months!!
Just like anything we put up, eventually they blended into the background and I forgot about them. Sure I would see them every time I was in bed but I stopped paying attention. One day I was struck with a bug that I really wanted to go to Thailand. I've always wanted to see all parts of the world but for some reason I was really keen on this country. One month later I'm on a plane solo for what would be an epic spiritual journey (I'll explain more in another post). When I came back and was going through my pictures, I noticed a statue that looked oddly familiar, which was the same feeling I had seeing it while at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. I look up at my boards and low and behold, there is the statue on my travel board. EUREKAH! This stuff really works!! I then set to work with my intention for my new career.

8 months later I had somehow managed to get an interview for a role at Amazon. I had no background in tech or the role in which I was interviewing for. Between the help of friends revamping my resume and preparing for the interview, I was ready! It was December and I had my first few rounds of phone screens. A few weeks pass, anxiously, and I land at the corporate headquarters for onsite interviews in early January. These lasted all day and I felt terrific after them! I just knew the job was mine.

But I would have to wait for it......
As one normally does, I followed up with the recruiter weekly regarding the outcome of these fantastic interviews. Each time I was told a decision had not been made yet with no further clarity. 3 weeks pass and I'm now anxious and nervous. By mid-February (6 weeks later) I was told to write it off by friends and family. However I was not taking silence as a no and continued to visualize myself in the role. 2 weeks later I finally got the call I was waiting for and an AMAZING offer; 30% more than I was making! Once again the power of visualization and vision boards had helped me manifest my dreams.

So get out your poster board, glue stick, scissors, magazine/pictures and 8th grade creativity and go to work!

Wishing you a life of purpose!
