MAKING DECISIONS USING INTUITION

Did I just do that?! It's a funny thing to think and I realize I think it often. Actions will arise out of what feels like an impulsive state, however I'm learning that they are often a conditioned state. Because of all the self development work I've done, I've subconsciously conditioned myself to action when I feel fear or am overthinking. That's not to say I do it all the time, no this will be a life long practice. Rather I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge it and drop some truth for you.

Intuition is something inherent in all of us. It's the internal knowing we use often to make decisions where we don't have all the answers. As we evolve, we can further tap into it to use even when we do have the answers - tapping into what's truly aligned to our greater good. Using intuition when we don't have the answers  feels safe because we cannot hold ourselves fully accountable to the outcome as we used "guess" in our decision making. This is why it feels more natural. But where the true magic lies is when we use our intuition when having all the answers. There is no safety net from the outcome - we must own it fully. This is why aligning to our heart's desires, knowing ourselves, is key. This is where true fulfillment comes in - when we make decisions using our intuition aligned to our heart's desires.

How do we develop this? As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect. So how can you start practicing using your intuition more intentionally? Here are 3 few tips to follow:

Tip #1: Start small
Begin by using small decisions with little consequence of outcome. For example, if trying to decide on a movie or a restaurant. In this case you can ask yourself, "which one will serve me the most [joy] today?". Where joy can be replaced with any emotion/outcome you are seeking to achieve. This simple act of asking yourself, based on an outcome you desire, is a great way to tap into your inner desire.

Tip #2: Feel Into It
If when asking you aren't receiving an answer, it's because you are not feeling into it. Feeling into it simply means that you get quiet and ask from a place that is pure and objective - without judgement or preconceived notions. Simply close your eyes, ask the question silently to yourself, and feel the emotion of being open with gratitude to receive. Try asking with a smile - this helps to remove the judgement from the chatter in your mind.

Tip #3: Reinforce with Gratitude
Once you receive the answer, accept it and thank yourself. The self gratitude does a few things - subconsciously it rewards the basal ganglia (the brain's habit forming system) and consciously it reinforces the decision so you can cut off the "what ifs" from the other choices not selected.

So friends - start using your intuition today to tap into greater confidence in your decision making. Share your insights to help others!

Wishing you a life of purpose!
